Out of lockdown and back in business

After working from home for around eight weeks during the State of Alarm, when lockdown restrictions started to ease earlier last month, we took the opportunity to get back to the office and get back to what we do best, selling property.

Following government guidelines and to keep our team and our clients safe, we installed protection screens at all our desks and have hand sanitiser available for anyone who enters. Our office is disinfected daily and we can make private appointments available for anyone in a vulnerable group.

Despite the travel restrictions being in place for people entering Spain, we saw a surge in enquiries from people living here in rented accommodation and from Spanish buyers.  In the first weeks of re-opening we have been out on dozens of viewings with different clients.  During the first phase we were following guidelines and only viewing unoccupied properties as well as insisting that clients wear masks and avoid touching items inside the properties.

As restrictions have eased we are now able to view properties which are occupied but have to insist that the owners step outside the property for the duration of the viewing and that our team members and the potential buyers also wear masks, use hand sanitiser and keep a safe distance from everyone involved.
While the property market is far from back to normal, we have been buoyed by the number of enquiries we continue to receive and expect this to improve further as Spain's external borders reopen in July.

As flights from the UK and other parts of Europe resume, we expect to see a considerable increase in enquiries as people pursue their dream of purchasing in this part of Spain.

Mojacar council has initiated a marketing campaign, promoting the benefits of visiting Mojacar following the COVID19 outbreak, highlighting what makes Mojacar different from many other, larger resorts, such as no overcrowding on beaches, plenty of open spaces and low density population even during the summer months. As always, we are on the lookout for new listings of all property types to meet the needs of our potential buyers.  Even with the current State of Alarm it is surprising how quickly things can move, an apartment on a popular complex, only listed last week, received an offer before it was even uploaded to the website and deep into lockdown a reservation was placed on a Mojacar villa, both sets of buyers are not even currently in Mojacar.  So if you are thinking of selling, don't let the current global situation delay the process, there are potential purchasers looking for a property like yours!
